Iran, Slovakia vowed to boost economic ties

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif, who is visiting Slovakia, the second stop in his Eastern Europe tour, met with his Slovak counterpart Miroslav Lajčák in Bratislava on Thursday.

“The economy delegation accompanying me proves the determination of both public and private sector of the Islamic Republic of Iran for developing relations with Slovakia,” said Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Thursday, during his meeting with his Slovak counterpart Miroslav Lajčák in Bratislava.

The Iranian top diplomat underlined the Islamic Republic of Iran’s fierce determination for developing all-out ties with Slovakia

“The bilateral ties between Iran and Slovakia has been good since the very beginning and has enjoyed a growing trend of development since my visit to Tehran in 2015,” said Miroslav Lajčák, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic in this meeting for his part, “we intend to bolster our embassy to Tehran especially in economic terms as the areas of economic cooperation between the two countries are vast and huge.”

Lajčák called for immediate formation of the joint economy commission of the two countries. He also enlisted investment and banking relations as the other necessary areas of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Slovakia.

The Iranian Foreign Minister and his Slovak counterpart started the first round of their serious talks after meeting with Slovak President Andrej Kiska.

Zarif, at the head of a 30 strong delegation of diplomats, businessmen, and economy and trade activists, arrived in Slovak capital city of Bratislava as the second destination of his current Eastern European tour late on Wednesday.
